The Ophthalmology Department of Sanya Central Hospital holds significant influence in the southern region of Hainan Province. It currently has 8 beds and a team of 9 doctors, including 1 chief physician, 4 associate chief physicians, and 3 attending physicians, as well as 1 technician and 2 master's degree holders. The major equipment includes: Heidelberg Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography (OCTA) system (Germany), Carl Zeiss surgical microscope, phacoemulsification machine, Topcon fundus camera and angiography system, automated perimeter, comprehensive refractometer, fundus laser machine, YAG laser machine, ophthalmic biometer, ophthalmic A/B ultrasound system, ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM), anterior segment camera.

The routine treatment projects currently carried out by our department mainly include:

1. Ametropia: Correction of myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and complex ametropia;

2. Eyelid disease: Eyelid inflammation, eyelid tumor resection, entropion correction, ectropion correction, blepharoptosis correction, blepharochalasis correction, eyelid mass resection and plastic surgery, epicanthus correction, medial and lateral canthoplasty, double eyelid plasty.

3. Conjunctival diseases: Medical treatment for various conjunctival inflammations, conjunctival tumor resection, pterygium resection, symblepharon correction surgery;

4. Corneal disease: Medication for various keratitis;

5. Uveal disease: Medication for various types of uveal diseases;

6. Lens diseases: Laser posterior capsulotomy, extracapsular cataract extraction, intraocular lens implantation, implantation of rigid intraocular lens, secondary intraocular lens implantation, traumatic cataract extraction, posterior chamber intraocular lens suspension in aphakic eyes, phacoemulsification cataract extraction + intraocular lens implantation;

7. Glaucoma: Medication for various types of glaucoma, laser peripheral iridectomy, peripheral iridectomy, and combined trabeculectomy

8. Lacrimal duct diseases: Lacrimal duct probing, dacryocystectomy, dacryocystorhinostomy;

9. Fundus diseases: Medication for common diseases of the optic nerve, retina, and choroid; laser photocoagulation for retinopathy; intravitreal injection;

10. Ocular muscle diseases: Strabismus correction surgery;

11. Orbital diseases: Lacrimal gland tumor resection, orbital exenteration, enucleation of the eyeball, evisceration of the eye, and implantation of an ocular implant;

12. Ocular trauma: Repair of eyelid, corneal, and conjunctival trauma, removal of deep corneal foreign bodies, treatment of chemical eye burns, etc.
