The Orthopedics Department of Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province) is a key department of our hospital. Currently, there are a total of 52 medical staff, including 20 doctors (13 with a master's degree and 7 with a bachelor's degree). Among them, 2 have senior-level professional titles, 6 have associate senior professional titles, 11 have intermediate professional titles, and 1 has a primary professional title. There are 32 nurses. The department has long been responsible for the medical care tasks of various international and domestic conferences and important events in Sanya and its surrounding areas. It performed outstandingly in the Olympic Torch Relay Ceremony, the Boao Forum for Asia, and the medical care work for national leaders, and has been commended by the government many times.
2. Academic Status
The professional and technical level of the department ranks among the advanced in the province. In the past decade or so, it has carried out a number of scientific research projects funded by the Hainan Provincial Natural Science Foundation and medical science and technology innovation projects, won a number of scientific research achievements such as the Sanya City Science and Technology Progress Award, published dozens of medical papers in Chinese - series journals and SCI-indexed journals, actively participated in international, national, and provincial academic exchanges, and opened up a new situation for orthopedic academic exchanges in our hospital. Clinical Work Carried out by the Department: Anterior and posterior cervical spine surgeries, anterior and posterior thoracolumbar spine surgeries, anterior and posterior surgeries for spinal deformities; surgical treatment of spinal tumors, anterior focal resection, bone grafting, and internal fixation for spinal tuberculosis; artificial joint replacement and revision surgeries for the hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow joints; in the field of trauma, the replantation of severed fingers and limbs, and a series of surgeries for complex fractures of the pelvis and extremities have reached the domestic advanced level, been fully recognized by peers, and been well-received by orthopedic colleagues in the country. In particular, the application of minimally invasive techniques has developed rapidly, such as arthroscopic techniques, spinal foraminoscopy and UBE techniques (unilateral biportal endoscopic spinal minimally invasive techniques), percutaneous minimally invasive pedicle screw internal fixation, percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty, low-temperature plasma discoplasty, and radiofrequency ablation of the intervertebral disc. Our department is also the Southern Training Base for the Sino - Russian Cooperative Laser Disc Repair. The establishment of this base has enabled our department's medical level to enter the field of international tourism medicine. Its minimally invasive techniques have reached the international advanced level, and an international medical information exchange platform has been created, greatly improving our department's medical technology level and academic status.

Arthroscopic techniques (routinely carrying out traditional arthroscopic techniques for the shoulder, elbow, wrist, hip, knee, and ankle joints, and expanding to extra-articular applications such as gluteal muscle contracture release and arthroscopic treatment of calcaneodynia), spinal foraminoscopy and UBE techniques (unilateral biportal endoscopic spinal minimally invasive techniques), percutaneous minimally invasive pedicle screw internal fixation for spinal fractures, percutaneous balloon kyphoplasty for spinal fractures, replantation of severed fingers and limbs, minimally invasive techniques for complex fractures of the pelvis and extremities, joint replacement and joint revision surgeries.
The Orthopedics Department has a good departmental style, medical ethics, and academic atmosphere. All the staff work together in unity.
