Established in April 2018, the General Medicine Department of Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province) currently has 7 doctors (1 chief physician, 1 associate chief physician, 4 attending physicians, and 1 resident physician, including 3 with master’s degrees and 4 with bachelor’s degrees) and 8 nursing staff (5 senior nurses and 3 nurses). The department’s doctors have received training at renowned hospitals in China, such as Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University, and possess extensive experience in identifying and managing critical illnesses, common diseases, and multi-morbidity conditions. Our department integrates clinical medicine, rehabilitation medicine, preventive medicine, and humanistic medicine, adopting a patient-centered approach. We are responsible for both initial patient consultations and the management of various common and chronic diseases (including respiratory, cardiovascular, endocrine, cerebrovascular, and geriatric conditions). We also specialize in the early diagnosis of symptom-based complaints (such as chest tightness, chest pain, palpitations, edema, fatigue, weight loss, dizziness, and abdominal pain), multi-morbidity conditions, and undifferentiated diseases that cannot be attributed to a specific specialty. Additionally, we provide multidisciplinary consultations for complex cases. Guided by advanced general medicine principles, we offer comprehensive, continuous, and personalized "long-term responsible care" throughout the patient’s life cycle. As a national general medicine residency training base, the department has graduated 63 general medicine residents, many of whom have been recognized as outstanding at the provincial and hospital levels. The department has been repeatedly awarded as an excellent rotation department and training base and has twice won second prize in the Hainan Provincial Resident Clinical Skills Competition (General Medicine category). It is a comprehensive clinical discipline integrating medical care, education, and scientific research.
