Established in 2014, the Geriatrics Department of Sanya Central Hospital is located on the 16th floor of the surgical medical building, with a total area of 1400 m2 and 58 beds. The department integrates medical care, education, and scientific research, focusing on the comprehensive assessment of the elderly, multi-disciplinary team treatment of comorbidities, and the management of geriatric syndromes. Currently, there are 28 medical and nursing staff, including 2 chief physicians, 4 associate chief physicians, and 5 attending physicians, all with over 10 years of clinical experience.

The department not only undertakes medical care for national, provincial, and municipal cadres and foreign guests but also operates memory clinics, comprehensive geriatric clinics, and geriatric comprehensive assessment clinics. The department offers memory clinics, comprehensive geriatric clinics, and geriatric comprehensive assessment clinics, providing diagnosis and treatment for elderly patients with comorbidities such as cardiovascular diseases, respiratory system diseases, diabetes, cognitive impairment, frailty, and muscle atrophy, along with geriatric syndromes. It adopts a personalized, holistic, and continuous management approach to develop diagnosis, treatment, and intervention plans for elderly patients, aiming to improve their functional status and quality of life.

Our department has undertaken numerous research projects in Hainan Province and Sanya City, receiving three first prizes for municipal-level scientific and technological advancements and publishing over 50 medical papers. We have been recognized as an advanced department in the hospital for several consecutive years, earning the title of "Youth Civilization Unit" in Sanya City and being designated as a senior-friendly medical institution in Hainan Province in 2023.
