The Blood Transfusion Department is a clinical support department responsible for managing blood transfusion services in the hospital. Its primary goal is to ensure safe, scientific, rational, and effective blood transfusion for patients, guided by regulations such as the Blood Donation Law, Clinical Blood Use Management Regulations, and Clinical Blood Transfusion Technical Guidelines. The department currently has 15 staff members, including 1 senior professional title, 2 associate senior professional title, 7 intermediate title, and 5 primary title. This well-structured team fosters a positive and proactive work environment. The department is organized into specialized groups: blood supply, complex crossmatching, biosafety management, equipment and consumables, transfusion reaction management, and research/teaching/training. It is equipped with advanced systems, including a transfusion management system for comprehensive blood transfusion process management, an automated blood typing/crossmatching analyzer, 6 specialized blood storage refrigerators, 3 thromboelastography (TEG) analyzers, a platelet antibody detector, a blood irradiator, a plasma exchange machine, a blood separator, a biosafety cabinet, 3 specimen centrifuges, 4 crossmatching centrifuges, 2 plasma thawers, 2 microscopes, 2 platelet agitators, and a constant-temperature water bath. The department’s fixed assets exceed RMB 10,000,000. Services offered include ABO forward and reverse blood typing; RhD, RhC, and RhE blood typing; crossmatching tests; irregular antibody screening; thromboelastography (TEG); platelet antibody testing; hemolysis screening; platelet-rich plasma collection and storage; plasma exchange; preoperative autologous blood donation and transfusion.
The Blood Transfusion Department conducts internal quality control and participates in external quality assessment (EQA) organized by the National Center for Clinical Laboratories, consistently achieving excellent results.
