The Emergency Center of Sanya Central Hospital was established in 1991. Over the past three decades, it has evolved into a Grade A Tertiary Emergency Medical Center, integrating emergency medical care, health services, medical education, and scientific research. The center is organized into seven functional divisions: Pre-Hospital Emergency Care, Emergency Department, Resuscitation Unit, Infusion Room, Emergency Ward, Emergency Intensive Care Unit (EICU), and Emergency Observation Unit. Pre-hospital emergency services began in 1994, and in 2023, in response to government initiatives to improve public healthcare accessibility, the center established a "15-Min Emergency Medical Response Network". This network includes 9 emergency stations located in Yacheng Health Center, Nanshan Scenic Area, Meishan Health Center, Baogang Health Center, Gaofeng Hospital, Maling Health Center, Tianya Scenic Area, Yucai Hospital, and Yaliang Clinic. This development marked a new chapter in emergency medical care in Sanya City, benefiting the vast population in the southern part of Hainan Province. It has now evolved into a comprehensive service system encompassing pre-hospital emergency care, in-hospital emergency treatment, emergency room admissions, EICU, and emergency observation, providing holistic care to the community.
