The Nuclear Medicine Department of Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province) was established in September 2017. After 7 years of development, it has become a comprehensive medical platform integrating medical care, education, and research. The department boasts a high-quality team of 5 medical staff, including 2 physicians, 2 senior nurses, and 1 technician, with 1 senior professional and 4 supervisor-level technicians.
The department primarily focuses on radionuclide imaging diagnostics, organ function assessment, radionuclide therapy, and osteoporosis treatment, among other services. Moreover, the department has established specialized outpatient clinics for thyroid diseases (hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer) offering iodine-131 therapy, as well as observation wards for radionuclide treatment. The department is equipped with advanced, domestically leading-edge technology, including the Siemens Symbia T16 SPECT/CT scanner, the JXY thyroid iodine uptake measurement device, the RM-905adp automatic radioactive iodine solution dispenser, and the Langang myocardial exercise treadmill.
Additionally, the department places a strong emphasis on teaching and research. Over the past 5 years, its staff have led or participated in 3 provincial and departmental-level research projects, published 7 academic papers (including 1 indexed in SCI), and co-authored 1 academic book as associate editor. The department is responsible for the standardized rotation training of resident physicians in imaging medicine (radiology and ultrasound). In recent years, it has completed training rotations for over 20 residents.
