Our department was founded in 1974 and has weathered decades of challenges. The floor area has grown from over 200 square meters initially to 1,380 m2 at present. Our Pathology Department is the largest pathological diagnosis institution affiliated with the Sanya Municipal Health Commission. It has been undertaking the pathological diagnosis work in Sanya for years. Currently, there are 6 doctors and 6 technicians in our department, with an average age of 35. It is a united and dynamic young team. In 2021, a total of 30,000 pathological examinations were completed, including 10,637 person-times of routine examinations, 9,400 cytology cases, 995 intraoperative frozen section examinations, and 10,000 immunohistochemistry tests. The workload accounts for approximately 40% of the total in all hospitals affiliated with the Sanya Health Commission. As the Sanya Pathology Consultation Center, the department has been providing pathological consultation services for hospitals with relatively weak pathological specialties for years.
