In recent years, the demand for professional medical and home-based nursing services has surged due to the aging population and changes in family structures. As the first medical institution in Sanya City to offer “Internet+ Nursing Services”, Sanya Central Hospital (the Third People’s Hospital of Hainan Province) has extended high-quality nursing services from a 3A grade hospital to the entire Sanya area, providing residents with convenient and accessible care through an “online application, offline service” model. In 2024 alone, the hospital received up to 2,023 orders for its “Internet+ Nursing Services”, ranking first in order volume among the 33 hospitals throughout the province offering similar services.
According to statistics from the Youjiahu platform, Sanya Central Hospital is the only hospital in Hainan Province with more than 2,000 orders in 2024. Among the patients who have received services, 1,991 participated in a service quality satisfaction survey and gave a 100% satisfaction rating, fully demonstrating the effectiveness and popularity of this service model.
Expanding Services to Enhance User Experience
To meet the diversified needs of users, Sanya Central Hospital has added 10 new services in 2024, encompassing wound suture removal, catheter replacement, and more. Currently, the online service platform offers as many as 53 types of nursing services, greatly expanding patients’ options. Additionally, the platform has introduced a new SMS follow-up and education function, enabling personalized health education content and follow-up dates to be sent to patients based on their specific conditions. This ensures that each user receives tailored guidance and services. To improve the convenience of post-discharge patient care, nursing staff proactively assist patients in registering on the platform before discharge, allowing them to easily place orders for necessary services once they return home. This initiative has significantly enhanced patient experience and satisfaction.
Expanding Service Coverage and Promoting Resource Sharing
To extend the reach of this beneficial service and benefit more residents, the hospital plans to gradually integrate 11 member institutions within its medical group into the “Internet+ Nursing Services” system. In 2024, the hospital dispatched technical experts to assist the Yacheng Branch in launching the “Internet+ Nursing Services”, successfully receiving 6 orders and further promoting the distribution of high-quality nursing resources to grassroots levels, thus improving the overall level of primary healthcare services.
Looking to the Future: Continuing to Lead Industry Trends
Looking ahead, the hospital will continue to lead its 11 affiliated branches in closely following the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port, further optimizing medical service processes, improving service quality, and strengthening technological and service innovations. In terms of project development, the hospital plans to explore diversified nursing service models, including such specialized services as traditional Chinese medicine nursing, health and wellness integration, and maternal and child care, to accommodate the health needs of different populations. On the policy front, the hospital aims to deepen cooperation with the medical insurance system by optimizing reimbursement processes and expanding coverage, effectively reducing patients’ healthcare costs, improving the accessibility and convenience of medical services, and extending the service radius to cover the entire southern region of Hainan, providing high-quality and convenient nursing services for more residents.
