Recently, the Second District of the Cardiovascular Disease Center and the Interventional Department team of Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province), with their exquisite medical technology and team cooperation, successfully completed the first radiofrequency surgery for arrhythmia independently. The successful implementation of this surgery not only provides patients with a safer and more effective treatment option but also demonstrates the exquisite professional ability and continuously improving technical level of the Second District of the Cardiovascular Disease Center of our hospital in the diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmia.
Arrhythmia, as one of the common cardiovascular diseases, seriously affects the quality of life and even the life safety of patients. Although traditional treatment methods can effectively control symptoms, they are often accompanied by a high recurrence rate and certain risks. Radiofrequency ablation surgery, as one of the advanced methods for treating arrhythmia at present, has become a blessing for many patients due to its characteristics of precision, high efficiency, and low recurrence rate.
On September 3, Aunt Lin (alias), a 53-year-old woman, visited the emergency department of our hospital due to sudden palpitations, dizziness, and chest tightness. After being diagnosed with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia, through active communication by Associate Chief Physician Yuan Yongcheng of Ward 2 of the Cardiovascular Disease Center, Aunt Lin was informed that paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia could be treated by cardiac radiofrequency ablation surgery, which is a minimally invasive surgery with small surgical trauma and a short hospital stay. Based on their trust in the medical team of our hospital, Aunt Lin and her family were admitted to our hospital on the same day.
On September 5, under the cooperation of the interventional department team led by Deputy Director Zhou Xiangqun of the Cardiovascular Disease Center, Deputy Director Wei Yingna of Ward 2 of the Cardiovascular Disease Center of our hospital successfully performed an intracardiac electrophysiological examination and radiofrequency ablation surgery on Aunt Lin. After the surgery, the patient had no pain or other discomfort, felt good, and was discharged smoothly the next day after the surgery.
Within the following week, that is, on September 12, 2024, Chief Physician Wei Yingna and Chief Physician Zhou Xiangqun successfully performed intracardiac electrophysiological examinations and cardiac radiofrequency ablation surgeries on 4 more patients with paroxysmal supraventricular tachycardia. All 4 patients were discharged smoothly the next day after the surgery and expressed their recognition of the technology of our hospital and their gratitude to the medical staff.
The successful implementation of the five radiofrequency ablation surgeries has completely broken the technical barrier that our hospital could not independently carry out such surgeries and has long relied on inviting external experts to perform radiofrequency ablation surgeries. It has also opened a new chapter in the interventional surgery for arrhythmia in our hospital, bringing hope of life and health to more patients, and contributing to the high-quality development of our hospital.
