On May 12, Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province) held the launching ceremony of joining the Cooperative Hospital of the Urological Clinical Research Network of Peking University First Hospital and the unveiling ceremony of the Surgical Robot Training Center.

At the meeting, Professor Li Xuesong, Director of the Urology Department of Peking University First Hospital, introduced the Urological Clinical Research Network and the Institute of Peking University First Hospital from aspects such as the history, development process, and future development direction of the Urology Department of Peking University First Hospital. He stated that the Urology Department of Peking University First Hospital is the birthplace of urology in China. The aim of launching the Urological Clinical Research Network of Peking University First Hospital is to jointly improve the medical technology and scientific research level of urology across China. Peking University First Hospital will regularly carry out academic exchanges, discussions on difficult cases, remote consultations, remote surgeries, etc. with the cooperative units, and guide the cooperative units to comprehensively improve in medical treatment, teaching, scientific research, management, and other aspects.

Professor Zhou Liqun, Director of the Peking University Institute of Urology, congratulated on the successful convening of this conference via an online video. He hoped that Peking University First Hospital and Sanya Central Hospital could jointly carry out in-depth cooperation at multiple levels in urological discipline construction, scientific research, and teaching, and continuously promote breakthroughs in the technical level and clinical research in the field of urology in Sanya.

Professor Chen Guoqiang, Assistant to the President of Sanya Central Hospital and Director of the Department of Urology, introduced the culture of Sanya Central Hospital, talent cultivation, and the development of the urological discipline. He pointed out that robotic surgery represents the most sophisticated minimally invasive surgical technology and also represents the future development direction of surgery. Joining the Cooperative Hospital of the Urological Clinical Research Network of Peking University First Hospital this time is a vivid practice of our hospital's comprehensive implementation of the "Healthy China" strategy and the promotion of the cooperation and construction concept of "One Department, One Renowned Hospital", which can more standardize and improve our hospital's diagnosis and treatment system. Meanwhile, through remote surgical operations and guidance, the safety of patients with complicated diseases can be improved, enabling patients to enjoy health services of the same quality as those of the Department of Urology of Peking University First Hospital without leaving the city, which plays a positive role in promoting the cultivation of the talent echelon and the improvement of medical technology level in our hospital.

Subsequently, with the countdown to the launch, witnessed by all the participants on site, Yu Yang, Deputy Director of the Sanya Municipal Health Commission, Professor Li Xuesong from Peking University First Hospital, Feng Wu, Party Secretary of Sanya Central Hospital, and Wang Tiansong, President of Sanya Central Hospital, jointly pressed the start button, announcing that Sanya Central Hospital joined the Cooperative Hospital of the Urological Clinical Research Network of Peking University First Hospital and the Surgical Robot Training Center was officially unveiled and launched.

In his speech, Wang Tiansong, President of Sanya Central Hospital, extended warm congratulations on the launch of the unveiling ceremony on behalf of all the cadres and employees of the hospital. He pointed out that as a "giant" in domestic urology, the Urology Department of Peking University First Hospital has two outstanding qualities. One is innovation, constantly staying at the forefront of technology, continuously exploring the truth, and constantly striving for the recovery of patients' diseases; the other is having a broad vision and the spirit of a great doctor, not only paying attention to its own development but also popularizing and promoting its technology across the country. Our hospital should combine the "850" hospital culture of our hospital with the high-quality genes of Peking University First Hospital, continuously learn advanced technologies, introduce the advantages, technologies, and experiences of Peking University First Hospital to Sanya, further improve the medical level of our hospital, and benefit more people. He pointed out that in recent years, our hospital has been committed to the development of disciplines. As one of the key development disciplines in the "850" discipline construction project, the Department of Urology has ranked among the top in the province in aspects such as stone treatment through various technical means. Currently, our hospital has also introduced domestic robots and has successfully carried out surgeries, allowing more people to enjoy advanced medical technologies. In the next step, our hospital will be committed to the application and promotion of surgical robot technology, enabling more medical staff to understand and master robotic surgery technology, and allowing more people to enjoy high-quality and advanced medical resources "at their doorstep".

Kang Xinli, Director of the Urology Department at Hainan Provincial People's Hospital and Chairman of the Urology Department of the Hainan Medical Association, delivered a speech. He pointed out that Peking University First Hospital is the cradle of urology in China, representing the history and future of urology in China. This cooperation between Sanya Central Hospital and Peking University First Hospital, by leveraging the high-quality medical resources of Peking University First Hospital, will continuously promote the comprehensive improvement of the medical quality and technical level of urology in Hainan, and better provide high-quality and efficient medical services for patients.

Yu Yang, Deputy Director of the Sanya Municipal Health Commission, delivered a speech. He pointed out that as a vanguard in the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port, Sanya, under the unified arrangement and guidance of Hainan Province, is continuously deepening the reform of the medical supply side, and promoting the effective expansion of superior medical resources and the balanced regional layout. The ability of Sanya Central Hospital to become a cooperative unit with a top domestic medical institution is of great significance for improving the medical service and security capabilities of our city and promoting the high-level construction and high-quality development of public hospitals. It is hoped that Sanya Central Hospital will carry out close academic exchanges and cooperation with the units of the "Urological Clinical Research Network of Peking University First Hospital", achieve information sharing and mutual improvement, and promote clinical research in urology. At 10:00 am, in the operating room of Sanya Central Hospital, the team of Professor Chen Cheng and Professor Du Yicong from Peking University First Hospital was operating the robotic arm to perform a robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy on a patient. This is the first time our hospital has carried out a national live broadcast through the "2024 Robot and Minimally Invasive Urological Surgery Forum (Tenth Session)", and it is also the "debut" of the surgical robot's live broadcast of the whole process to netizens across the country since our hospital carried out the first robotic surgery in April this year.

It is understood that the unveiling of the Robotic Surgery Training Center of our hospital can not only cultivate more highly skilled minimally invasive robotic surgery talents for our hospital and improve the level of our hospital's health service but also play a leading role. Based in southern Hainan and facing the whole province, through a series of training courses, simulation operations, animal experiments, and other means, it will promote the popularization and development of robotic surgery technology in the province, promote the in-depth development of minimally invasive surgery, cultivate more professional talents in the field of surgical robots for Hainan Province, serve patients with higher-level medical technology, and enable more people to enjoy high-quality, efficient and safe health services.
