On June 12, the inauguration ceremony of Hainan Medical University Affiliated Sanya Central Hospital was held at Sanya Central Hospital (The Third People's Hospital of Hainan Province), marking a significant step in deepening cooperation between Hainan Medical University and Sanya Central Hospital in medical, educational, and research fields.
The ceremony was attended by Yang Jun, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Hainan Medical University; Zhang Caihong, Party Committee Member and Vice President; Wang Kangkai, Party Committee Member and Dean of the Graduate School; and over 10 representatives from the university's functional departments, affiliated hospitals, and clinical colleges. Bi Hongling, Deputy Secretary-General of the Sanya Municipal Government, and Zheng Tongqin, Deputy Director of the Sanya Municipal Health Commission, were also present to offer their congratulations. Over 200 representatives from Sanya Central Hospital, including Party Secretary and President Chen Zhong, hospital leadership, mid-level management, and medical staff, participated in the event.
The unveiling ceremony was presided over by Vice President Lin Ling.
In his speech, Dean Chen Zhong warmly welcomed and thanked the attending leaders and guests. He emphasized that the official designation of Sanya Central Hospital as a "Non-Directly Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University" is a milestone in the partnership between the two institutions. This collaboration will strengthen hospital construction, advance clinical education and practice, build a regional medical service brand, improve healthcare standards in southern Hainan, and enhance public satisfaction and access to healthcare services. The hospital staff will seize this opportunity to leverage Hainan Medical University's talent and resources, fostering closer cooperation in discipline construction, teaching management, scientific research, talent development, and academic exchange. This partnership will accelerate the hospital's development and cultivate high-level medical professionals for the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Deputy Director Zheng Tongqin, on behalf of the Hainan Provincial Health Commission, extended congratulations to the hospital on its designation as “Affiliated Sanya Central Hospital of Hainan Medical University." He expressed the hope that both parties would adhere to the principle of mutual benefit and win-win cooperation, promoting mutual growth and joint development. By building Hainan Medical University Affiliated Sanya Central Hospital into a leading institution, they can steadfastly achieve the goals of their collaboration and make even greater contributions to advancing the healthcare sector in Sanya and across Hainan Province.
President Yang Jun provided an overview of Hainan Medical University's history, scale, talent development, discipline construction, and international cooperation. He stated that, at present, the Hainan Free Trade Port is undergoing accelerated development, presenting both the university and the hospital with rare and unprecedented historical opportunities as well as promising prospects for the future. This collaboration between the two parties is based on the principle of mutual willingness and is aligned with the goals of building the Hainan Free Trade Port. It not only meets the need to accelerate the development of a high-level tropical medical university with distinct characteristics but also supports the hospital's transformation and upgrading to establish itself as a southern medical center for the Free Trade Port. He pointed out that, as the earliest Grade A tertiary hospital and a regional center for complex and critical care in southern Hainan, Sanya Central Hospital has the potential, through this collaboration, to become a model non-directly affiliated hospital of Hainan Medical University and a showcase for the university's thriving medical, educational, and research endeavors in Sanya, achieving mutually beneficial development. He expressed the hope that Sanya Central Hospital would seize the opportunity of becoming an affiliated hospital to strengthen its commitment to technology-driven development and standardized teaching management, continuously enhancing the teaching and research capabilities of its faculty. He expressed the confidence that, under the correct leadership of the provincial and municipal governments, this partnership will make new and greater contributions to the construction of the Hainan Free Trade Port.
Following this, in the presence of all attendees, President Yang Jun, Vice President Zhang Caihong, President Wang Kangkai, Dean Chen Zhong, Deputy Secretary-General Bi Hongling, and Deputy Director Zheng Tongqin jointly unveiled the plaque for "Hainan Medical University Affiliated Sanya Central Hospital.
As another key component of the affiliation, a faculty training program was launched simultaneously. After the unveiling ceremony, experts from Hainan Medical University and its affiliated hospitals delivered insightful lectures to the hospital's faculty.
Professor Wang Yi, President of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University, delivered a lecture titled The Impact of Teaching and Research on Hospital Transformation. Professor Zhang Jianye, Director of the Science and Technology Department, presented An Introduction to Applying for Projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Professor Zeng Min, Director of the Science and Education Department at Affiliated Hainan Hospital, discussed Clinical Practice and Research. Professor Yao Chenjiao, Vice President of the First Clinical College, spoke on Building a Clinical Faculty Team, while Professor Xie Xieju, Director of the Academic Affairs Office, addressed Teaching Management in Affiliated Hospitals. These lectures provided a multi-dimensional exploration of the themes central to the development of an affiliated hospital.
It is understood that since 1988, Sanya Central Hospital has served as a teaching hospital for Hainan Medical University. For over 30 years, the hospital has continuously received medical, nursing, and technical interns from Hainan Medical University.
