Professor Lv Shuzheng is one of the pioneers in coronary heart disease interventional therapy in China. He currently serves as the Chief Expert of the Cardiology Department at Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University; Director of the Department of Internal Medicine at Beijing Anzhen Hospital; Director of the Cardiology Department at Capital Medical University. He is also a recipient of the State Council Special Allowance, the Chair of the Cardiovascular Disease Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Health Care; Standing Member of the Cardiovascular Physician Branch of the China Medical Doctor Association, the recipient of the Beijing Municipal Labor Medal, and the Leader of the key discipline “Diagnosis and Treatment of Coronary Heart Disease” at Beijing’s Coronary Heart Disease Center; Vice President of Cardiovascular Internal Medicine, Specialist Branch of Beijing Medical Doctor Association. Professor Lv is recognized for his rich experience and unique insights in the treatment of coronary heart disease, arrhythmias, rheumatic heart disease, cardiomyopathy, congenital heart disease, and other complex cases. He was one of the first in China to introduce new interventional treatment techniques. For several years, he has ranked at the top in the number of coronary interventions and treatments for complex coronary lesions in the country. As one of the leading experts in coronary heart disease interventional treatment in China, Professor Lv has successfully completed over 10,000 procedures, including many high-difficulty and complex cases, such as multi-vessel lesions, unprotected left main coronary artery lesions, and chronic total occlusion (CTO) lesions. He has also been invited to perform coronary interventional surgeries in over 200 hospitals across 30 provinces and municipalities in China. In 1991, he performed the first radial artery coronary angioplasty (PTCA) in China at Beijing Anzhen Hospital, and in the same year, he began to treat CTO lesions. In 1992, he performed China’s first emergency PTCA for coronary heart disease, and in 1994, he performed the first coronary artery stent implantation for coronary heart disease patients in China. He also pioneered the stent procedure for left main coronary artery lesions nationwide in 1994. In 2012, Professor Lv has received numerous national and provincial science and technology progress awards, including the “China Famous Doctor Top 100”, second prize of National Bureau of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Science and Technology Progress First Prize of Chinese Association of Traditional and Western Medicine, and won six provincial and ministerial level and national science and technology progress awards; involved in major national research projects, including the 10th and 12th Five-Year Plans; published over 200 academic papers and authored 7 academic monographs and contributed to 8 others.
