Dr. Chang previously worked in the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department of Hainan Provincial People’s Hospital for over a decade before being recruited to Sanya Central Hospital in 2022, where he currently serves as the Director of the Gastrointestinal Surgery Department. Dr. Chang earned his master’s degree from Zhejiang University School of Medicine under the guidance of Professor Zheng Shusen, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and his Ph.D. from Southern Medical University. Dr. Chang has expertise in laparoscopic and open surgeries for gastric and colorectal cancers, reoperative surgery for recurrent abdominal tumors, surgical resection of retroperitoneal tumors, and surgical resection of pelvic tumors. Dr. Chang pioneered the first laparoscopic total pelvic exenteration surgery in Hainan Province. With over ten years of clinical experience in sphincter-preserving surgery for low rectal cancer, Dr. Chang has accumulated extensive expertise in internationally recognized techniques such as ISR (intersphincteric resection), taTME (transanal total mesorectal excision), and modified Bacon procedures, achieving a high success rate in precise sphincter preservation. Dr. Chang is also a leading figure in retroperitoneal tumor surgery in Hainan Province; completed one Hainan Provincial Natural Science Foundation project and currently leading another; published 4 SCI-indexed papers as the first or corresponding author, with a cumulative impact factor of 15; published over 10 papers in Chinese core journals.
